Good afternoon,

These fish are in a strange mode so we are struggling to get them to act right and get bites here this past few days.  There is no shortage of them.  Very large biomass of these things that we have been looking at.  We have gotten two bites all day and managed to land them both–one on the kite and one on a sinker rig.

Good evening,

We managed a few more bites on the sinkers, but only landed one more of these big fish.  We are bailing out of here and going to try a different area for tonight and tomorrow.

Good evening,

We got on an area of fish here this afternoon.  It looks different than it has the last couple days. The water is cleaner and there is no bait in it.

The fish we’re seeing are all 80-200# or more.  There is miles and miles of them. They still aren’t biting but we deffinitely feel like were in the right spot for tonight. We got a few kite bites and landed this one..  We’ll see what happens tonight.

Good morning,

We did not see much fish at all last night.  When the sun came up. all we saw was big fish (100# and up). There was a lot of them but they were not biting.

We found these 25-50# fish about lunchtime. We see a massive amount of it now but we cant get them to bite. It’s all on their own bait. We have one 50# fish on the boat so far for our day.

Good evening,

Good bluefin tuna watching today, not very good fishing however. It’s very tough to get a bite, but plenty of sign around of all grades of fish.  We managed to snag a couple more this afternoon. We still see this incredible sign at the moment some have hopes for tonight.

As we well know, everyday is different and every hour of everyday is different, so opportunity can arise here at any time.

Jun 15 (2.5 Day) Offshore

Good morning,
We had a few opportunities last night on the flat falls.  Well, more like this morning from 2-5am.  Good sign of mixed grade fish 30-180lbs.  They didn’t bite that well, but we did get a few shots and boated a couple nice ones.  We’re seeing some sign this morning and we have gotten a few bites. We just boated a couple daytime fish, a 90# and a 100#.

Congrats, Jeff!

Good evening,

Very tough fishing here today. We had a few small opportunities on big fish (80-180#) but we only managed to boat a couple. We decided to make a move this afternoon.  We relocated and have seen some nice schools of 40lb fish late today.  They seem like they’ve gone down at the moment so we’re hoping they pop up here after dark and we get a shot at them.

Hello anglers,

We still see lots of schools of non-biting bluefin out here. We had an opportunity last night and managed to land two fish weighing about 140 pounds. We had a brief window to get these fish to bite, and then we had to call it a trip. There is still a tremendous amount of fish out there, but timing is everything.

Jun 12 (2.5 day) Offshore

Hello anglers,

We had some opportunity last night for people who stayed up. There were different size fish, depending on the school we encountered. Some spots had fish up to 140 pounds and fish in the 50-pound class. The standard flat fall and knife lure method, and the depth varied all night. We are hoping for some action in the daytime.

Hello anglers,

There is no shortage of fish in the area! As soon as we arrived last night, we started seeing great sign of fish. Unfortunately they were the non-biting variety. We did catch three nice fish for our 17 anglers last night out of one stop and hooked a few that got away.

Also there is plenty of fish to see this morning, but not cooperating yet. More later. Here is Tommy and Kyle with their fish last night. They both used knife lures.

Evening report:

Hello anglers,

We have seen a tremendous sign of bluefin tuna today, but they are not biting so far. We’ve had a few opportunities with not much production. The weather is great and we have high hopes for tonight.

Good morning,

We had some good opportunities on the lures last night for 25-60lb bluefin tuna. Opportunities were spread out throughout the night.  They only bit for a few minutes, then they were gone. It’s important when were doing this that you are ready to go, because we could stop at any time.  Fun action last night!

We’re seeing them this morning but not really catching yet.  We’ll see what the afternoon brings.

Good evening,

We have seen very good sign here throughout the day of mixed-grade fish, anywhere from 25-200lbs.  We have struggled to get any to stick to the boat and get any bites until late this afternoon. We stopped on a school of 80-110lbers, broke some off and started getting some bites.  We’ve been hooking them on the sinker rig and hooked a few on the fly-lined sardine.

We lost a few and we’ve and landed some good ones.  We’re still drifting here and pulling on the last one before we get on the move again.

Jun 5 (2.5 day) Offshore

Good evening,

We had a bit of a ripper last night on the flat falls. The fish were 20-40lbs and they were biting the lures right under the boat. Very good biting fish!

That tapered off around midnight and we called it a night.  We got on some 50-80lb fish this morning though they were uncooperative. We drove around for a while and this afternoon saw good sign of 20-50lb fish. We had one opportunity at them and hooked a dozen or so, and landed about half (light line fishing).

We are seeing it good now and hoping for another hit tonight before we wrap up the trip.
