Aug 27 (Aug 25-28) Limited load

Good evening,
We had a tough trip this weekend. We are dealing with fast-moving bluefin and choppy weather which made it difficult for us to get on some fish we could catch.  We’ve been hard at work in tough conditions the last couple days.
We did some good sign last night and yesterday afternoon way out to the northwest but and had a small window of opportunity in poor weather conditions.  We lost track of it though and never got back on them.  Just scattered sign throughout the day.

Congrats to Peter Thiessen on his 90# bluefin!

Aug 23 (Aug 21-24) Lady Angler Searcher Special #2

Good afternoon,
We got a little shot at the big ones last night…they are 100+#.  After about 11 p.m. the wind came up and they got harder to catch, so we threw in the towel.  We’ve been anchored up, pickng away at mixed-grade bluefin and some nice yellowtail today.  It’s breezy out here but we’re scratching up a nice day.

Aug 22 (Aug 21-24) Lady Angler Searcher Special #2

Good evening:

We traveled all night further west than we have been all year and got stopped on a big school of 100# bluefin in the gray and had a very good opportunity of landing a few. They were in the corner, biting. After that we saw good fish most of the day but couldn’t catch it. We’re still seeing that fish right now we’ll see how tonight goes.

Aug 19 (Aug 18-20) Lady Angler Searcher Special #1

Hello anglers!
Due to the weather coming our way, this trip was shortened from a 3-day to a 2-day and the team is focusing on bluefin fishing.

Captain Jason is reporting good bluefin fishing today on 30-140# fish, most are in the 30-80# range. And the weather is very calm!

Team Searcher

Weather from the bluefin ground at 3:15 p.m. Saturday!

Aug 12 (Aug 11-14) Captain Potatohead Memorial and Fun-raiser

Good evening:
Epic day on the water today. It felt like we were at Guadalupe Island picking on 100# fish for most of the the day on the anchor.  We would get waves of 30# and waves of 60# fish, but we kept 3-5 going all day. Most of what we caught were 70-120# fish.
Excellent sign and excellent fishing, all fly-line fishing.  We’re on the hunt for something else to mix it up here.

Aug 11 (Aug 11-14) Captain Potatohead Memorial and Fun-raiser

Good morning,

We had a little shot from 1am to 3am this morning on 100# bluefin tuna.  It took us awhile to find a school, but we did find a few biting schools and got a few opportunities  At about 4am we made a move to look for some smaller daytime biting fish.
We didn’t find them but we got on a nice school of mixed-grade fish 30-130# mostly 70-100# fish.  We’ve been getting steady action all morning with 3-5 fish going.  Very fun flyline fishing. Best methods are 50# test and  a small hook.

Aug 10 (Aug 9-11) FD Rover Charter

Good evening,

We’re wrapping up our 2-day trip we had excellent fishing on mixed grade bluefin in the 25-100# range.  We got on scene last night around 9pm and scratched away on 50-100# fish.  Then when the sun came up we started hooking them on our day time tackle.
We managed a few but spent most of the morning trying to locate some more managable fish. We got on a biting school of 25-40# fish in the early afternoon and drifted until it was time to go home. Beautiful weather and good fishing.
