Aug 23 (Aug 22-25) Lady Angler Searcher Special #2 (L.A.S.S.)

Good morning,

We had some opportunities last night on these bluefin and yellowfin.  There was good sign and we had a few good shots at them.  They are 60-80lbs and the yellowfin are 25-40lbs. Beautiful grade of fish and the ladies are killing it.

Pro staffer power!

Good afternoon,

We opted to spend our morning looking for kelps and we scored this morning.  We found a 30 footer loaded with nice-grade dorado, 6-8lb yellowtail and 8-12lb yellowfin.  We had wide open fishing there for a couple hours.  We’re napping and running up to last night zone to see if we can get another hit.

Aug 22 (Aug 22-25) Lady Angler Searcher Special #2 (L.A.S.S.)

Good evening,

We are seeing good sign of mixed 20-30lb yellowfin and bluefin this afternoon. We’re getting some bites, but struggling to land them.  We’ve also seen some bigger grade 60-100lb fish.  We hooked a few on our day time tackle, but it didn’t work out too well. Maybe tonight.

Great job, Marcela!

Aug 21 (Aug 19-22) Lady Angler Searcher Special (L.A.S.S.)

Good morning,

We saw decent sign of yellowtail this morning, though it was more show than go.  We did catch a few 18-22# fish.  We bailed and did some bottom fishing around 10am.  The bottom fishing was phenomenal.

We’ve moved on and we’re trying to put ourselves into position to catch a few trophies before we have to go home.

Captain Mike and the boys

Good evening,

We traveled most of the afternoon to make sure we were in position to try for a trophy at the end of the trip. We got on scene around 7pm and shut down on a large area of 30-200lb fish. We got a few bites right before the sun went down.  After sundown we got a little shot before we had to take off for home.  We caught a few 30-50#, a few hundred pounders, and a couple 180#.

Nice day on the Pacific Ocean today.

Aug 20 (Aug 19-22) Lady Angler Searcher Special (L.A.S.S.)

Good morning,

We had very good flat fall fishing on 20-50# bluefin last night. We were getting bites all night long. Every time we stopped, it seemed like everyone would hook one.  We slid into the islands this morning and we’re catching a few yellowtail.  Its pretty slow so we’re about to head offshore.

Captain Mike and the boys

Good evening,

We headed offshore just before lunchtime and started seeing fish pretty shortly after. We saw very good sign of 18-60# mixed yellowfin and bluefin. We managed to get a few schools to stick today and were able to spend the majority of the afternoon drifting.  We were getting bites and had 1-4 fish going most of the afternoon.  We’re going to make a move and get a change of scenery for tomorrow.

Aug 19 (Aug 19-22) Lady Angler Searcher Special (L.A.S.S.)

Good evening,

We left this morning on our annual 3-day Lady Anglers trip.  We decided to start local this afternoon. We got to the local bluefin tuna grounds around 4pm.  We got settled into a drift around 4:30. It took awhile, but we started hooking fish after about 15 minutes.  We slowly built momentum and got a plunker going on mixed yellowfin and bluefin tuna in the 25-40# range.  We kept 1-4 fish going for about two hours.  We’re going to try this tonight and see how it goes.

Aug 18 (Aug 17-19) 1.5 day trip

Hello all,

We headed south to the area that has been productive for yellowtail and dorado on kelp paddies. We found plenty of kelps but they weren’t very productive today. We managed to land a few fish but we had higher expectations.

We finished the day with a little action on bluefin and yellowfin tuna mostly caught on sinker rigs and live bait. They dissapeared after the sun went down.

Aug 16 (Aug 15-17) Extended 1.5 day

Hello anglers,

We had great fishing for dorado this morning. Everyone had a great time and got all the dorado they need. After the dorado bite we had a fresh dorado sandwich with a caper aoili and home fries. Delicious!

This afternoon we are seeing loads of tuna but they are the non-biting kind. We are going to keep trying for bites though.

Aug 15 (Aug 15-17) Extended 1.5 day

Hello anglers,

We elected to fish locally today and found a kelp paddie this afternoon. We had some good action and landed some bluefin, yellowfin and yellowtail. Everyone had a great time under sunny skies and light winds. We are going to stay overnight and try again tomorrow.

Aug 14 (Aug 12-15) Captain Potatohead Memorial

Hello anglers,

We had some action today and landed some yellowtail and dorado on kelp paddies. We had some good opportunities and plenty of fun to go with the action. We managed to stick to the theme of having fun on this trip. Dick “Captain Potatohead” would have been proud.
