Fall Fishing Forecast from Captain Michael

September 25th, 2023|Did You Know?|

Hello anglers:

We are wrapping up our season of shorter 2 to 4 day trips fishing. Our local bluefin has been nothing short of excellent this year, and we’ve enjoyed a long summer of good fishing. Now we turn our attention to longer trips this fall.

We are getting reports of phenomenal fishing from other boats fishing at spots down south.  We’re hearing that it’s as good as it gets for fishing yellowfin tuna in the 20-40# range. There’s good yellowtail fishing on the beach and a shot for a few wahoo at Alijos Rocks or The Ridge.

Check out the video on Yo-yo fishing for yellowtail to get an idea of the fun fishing!

We have a few spots left on a limited load 8 day in November, my favorite time of year to go down there, as well as a few spots on Ultra-limited Load trips (14 anglers) and a Seeker-sponsored trip coming up in October.

Openings:

7-day Seeker trip (Sep 30-Oct 7): 2 spots open

7-day Ultra Limited load (Oct 7-14): 1 spot open

7-day Ultra Limited Load (Oct 14-21): 2 spots open

8-day trip (Nov 14-22) Bring home fresh fish for Thanksgiving! 4 spots open

Our summer and spring schedule is up on the schedule as well and filling up quick!

Here are the awesome pro-staffers for our LASS (Lady Angler Searcher Special) trips. Not only are they star anglers, but they are generous with their time to teach others and provide amazing swag. (Plus they have boatloads of fun!)

We appreciate everything they do for Searcher and all the anglers they encounter. Join them on a 3-day LASS trip in 2024, offered every August.

Captain Potatohead is Ready to Ride Again!

August 8th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Did You Know?|

It’s count-down time for our “fun-raiser” fishing trip to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in honor of our friend, Dickie “Capt Potatohead” Uranga.
We couldn’t do it without Melton International Tackle, Fisherman’s Landing Tackle Shop Fisherman’s Processing Bob Bower, Robert Aguirre, Terry Onishi and a special donation by Steve Kneip. Seeker Fishing Rods and PENN Fishing too! Stay tuned for reports on the fun, fishing, friends and family this weekend.

Seeking Donations in Memory of Captain Potatohead

July 17th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Did You Know?|

Who remembers Dick Uranga of UFO and Ironman Lures? (aka Captain Potatohead)Most of us can’t forget him!
He taught us about fun, friends and family, and fishing.
The So Cal sportfishing community (and his dear family) lost him many years ago, but a dedicated group of anglers gather every year for an August 3-day fishing trip to remember him and all the lessons, and to catch some fish for family and friends.
Generous anglers purchase raffle tickets before and during the trip to win donated items. Those dollars (doubled by us at SearcherSportfishing) are donated to Dickie’s chosen charity, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in LA.
If you are in the industry and would like to donate a raffle item, we will remember you too and Dickie will smile upon you from his prominent place in heaven.
Fishing tackle, gift certificates, clothing, and services are all welcome.
Contact Celia at Searcher: 619-226-2403 or searcher@searchersportfishing.com
Brought to you by a hard-working and generous donations committee (Bob Bower, Robert Aguirre, Terry Onishi, Mike Wicen, and PENN Fishing, Seeker Fishing Rods, FishBonz restaurants and MeltonTackle.
Dickie makes us do it.
