Oct 12 (Oct 7-14) 7 day Ultra Limited Load

October 12th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening:
We let the wind blow past last night and got up to Isla Natividad just after the sun came up. We had some good action until about lunchtime on larger-grade fish in the 18-25# range.  Yo-yo and fly-lined baits were the hot ticket. We did catch a few on the droppe- loop and the surface-iron too.  We’re headed up the beach again.
We are  going to stop and break up the ride and do some bottom fishing tomorrow morning.

Oct 11 (Oct 7-14) 7 day Ultra Limited Load

October 10th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening:

We got up on the beach this morning to get out of the weather and had some excellent yellowtail action. It was full speed and any way you want to catch it. They are 10-18# fish, splashing around the boat. Anglers tagged as many as they wanted.

We saved some tags for tomorrow when we’re going to go further up the coast and try catch some bigger ones. We tucked into Bahia Asunción to get out of the wind for dinner, We’re going to try make some bait tonight and when it backs off and keep rolling up.

Oct 9 (Oct 7-14) 7 day Ultra Limited Load

October 9th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good evening

We’ve been traveling for the past two days. and finally got down to The Ridge this afternoon and it paid off. We’ve had excellent fishing on good grade-yellowfin tuna innthe 20-40# range. They were boiling in the corner, biting lures and fly-lined sardines.

Some beautiful water has pushed in here and seems like there’s a little bit of wahoo that may be moving in as well. The water is 81 deg and blue. We’re camping out hoping for some action tomorrow morning before the wind comes up.

October 6th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good afternoon,
We had a nice finisher today. We fished up the beach this morning and early afternoon. There is still a good showing of this yellowtail and they’re still biting, as well as some ncie dorado mixed in. We called it a trip with a couple wells of nice fish.
It will be a travel day tomorrow. Special thanks to Seeker Rods and Seeker rep Kevin for the great giveaways.

Oct 2 (Sep 30-Oct 7) 7 day Seeker

October 2nd, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning,
We departed Saturday on our annual Seeker-sponsored 7 day trip.  We had nice weather rolling down the past couple days.  Seeker pro-staffer, Kevin Boyle, raffled off a few of Seeker’s finest.
Last night we decided to put the brakes on after listening to the reports of yellowtail fishing down the beach. We stopped at the Natividad area this morning and it’s paying off. There’s a very good sign here this morning of 18-25# yellowtail. It’s been fun fishing here so far. We’re picking away on the yoyos and fly lined sardines.  Pretty good opportunity on the surface iron at times as well.

Sep 29 (Sep 28-30) 2 day

September 29th, 2023|Capt Art's Blog, Trip Reports|

Good morning,

We were late to the party yesterday as the fish seemed to be sliding to the west. However we did get a little sample of yellowfin and bluefin. The fish are 25-35#. There was some very good fishing throughout the day yesterday.

We stopped on a kelp first thing this morning and had some good action on dorado. As we’ve drifted off of it, we’re starting to plunk on these tuna. It’s a good sign around the boat, but not really biting yet.
