A few bluefin

October 4th, 2013|Capt Art's Blog|

Hello anglers: We have had some tough fishing the past two days. We haven’t found much to work with unfortunately. Today we fished the tuna pens and it was pretty disappointing with the exception of a little  action on 40 – 50 pound bluefin tuna to finish the trip. We landed 7 of those fish. John Curtis from England is pictured with Capt Carl and a nice bluefin.
Headed home tonight to regroup, Team Searcher

Better catching today!

October 2nd, 2013|Capt Art's Blog|

Hello anglers: Finally a little action today! Good yellowtail fishing with the majority of the fish in the 20 pound range with a few bigger and very few smaller. Our primary method is ayo-yo iron on 50-pound test line. A few fish are biting on live bait. We are enjoying this good weather and hoping for more fish this afternoon. Pictured are David and Leo Thiessen with a sample of their yellowtail from this morning. Team Searcher

Some slow catching…

October 1st, 2013|Capt Art's Blog|

Hello anglers: Very tough fishing so far this trip. For whatever reason all the fish we are finding have lockjaw. We can’t get anything to bite. We have seen enough fish to have a great trip if they would bite just a little. We will contnue to work at it and we have high hopes for tomorrow. The weather is great and the conditions are good with good water temps.
More tomorrow, Team Searcher
p.s. They are catching some nice yellowtail today finally!

First day of 7-day

September 29th, 2013|Capt Art's Blog|

Hello anglers: We started 90 miles from home with high hopes for the right day to get a chance at better grade bluefin. The day was right with good weather. It just wasn’t our day. We saw plenty of fish today but just couldn’t find the right school of biting fish.We did get a sample out of one of our stops and those are pictured.
We are travelling further south to try for yellowfin tuna and dorado tomorrow. Team Searcher

Some quality YFT coming aboard

Howdy anglers: The weather has improved, but the fishing has slowed down for us. We found a few nice sized kelps but they don’t have much fish on them. The ones we are catching are nice ones though. Here’s a sample of the yellowfin caught today by Don Baker Jr of Huntington Beach. Good angling and hope to see ya on the water soon, Capt Aaron and the Searcher crew

Tough conditions

September 26th, 2013|Capt Art's Blog|

Howdy anglers: We had some tough conditions today with wind and swells, but we made a day of it. We had an action on yellowfin tuna, dorado, and some yellowtail. We’re gonna stay in this area and try again tomorrow. Wish us luck! Good angling and hope to see you on the water. Capt Aaron and the Searcher crew

Howdy anglers: All day action on tuna, dorado and some yellowtail. We ended up with a limit of yellowfin tuna and close to a limit of dorado. The weather is still very nice and we’re headed home. Good angling and hope to see ya on the water soon, Capt Aaron and the Searcher crew
p.s. Many thanks to Andrew Otero and his group for joining us!
